Panamá - República de Panamá. - (13 links).

- 1/3 - (662 links).

Canada is a country in the northern part of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world's second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area. Canada's southern border with the United States is the world's longest bi-national land border. The majority of the country has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer. Canada is sparsely populated, the majority of its land territory being dominated by forest and tundra and the Rocky Mountains. It is highly urbanized with 82 per cent of the 35.15 million people concentrated in large and medium-sized cities, many near the southern border. Its capital is Ottawa, and its largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Various indigenous peoples have inhabited what is now Canada for thousands of years prior to European colonization. Beginning in the 16th century, the British and French established colonies, the first being the colony of Canada established by France in 1535. As a consequence of various armed conflicts, British North America gained and lost territory until, by the late 18th century, it controlled most of what comprises Canada today. On July 1, 1867, the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia were federated to form the semi-autonomous federal Dominion named Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the Dominion to the present ten provinces and three territories forming contemporary Canada. In 1931, Canada achieved near-total independence from the United Kingdom with the Statute of Westminster 1931, except for the power to amend its constitution. With the Constitution Act of 1982, Canada took over that authority (as the conclusion of Patriation). Canada is a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II being the head of state. The country is officially bilingual at the federal level. It is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many other countries. Its advanced economy is the tenth-largest in the world, relying chiefly upon its abundant natural resources and well-developed international trade networks. Canada's long and complex relationship with the United States has had a significant impact on its economy and culture. Canada is a developed country and has the fifteenth-highest nominal per capita income globally as well as the tenth-highest ranking in the Human Development Index. It ranks among the highest in international measurements of government transparency, civil liberties, quality of life, economic freedom, and education. Canada is a realm within the Commonwealth of Nations, a member of the Francophonie, and part of several major international and intergovernmental institutions or groupings including the United Nations, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the G7 (formerly G8), the Group of Ten, the G20, the North American Free Trade Agreement and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

In fact, I used to work in an independent bookstore where I fed my passion for beautifully illustrated children’s picture books and poverty. I am also an illustrator, fighting a very persistent and long-standing case of procrastination and/or laziness, depending on the day. I have a BFA in Drawing and Visual Communications and a strong aversion to pineapples. I am also in possession of a very lovely cat. She weighs 22 pounds.

aggv.ca 07/07/2018 When it first opened in 1951, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria exhibited art in the historic 1889 mansion that is now adjacent to its seven modern galleries. With almost 20,000 works of art, the Art Gallery has the largest public collection in BC and is a vibrant and active part of Victoria’s artist community. Designed by William Ridgeway Wilson, the Spencer Mansion was built in 1889. The property originally stretched from Fort Street to Rockland Avenue and incorporated formal gardens, two tennis courts, stables and a coach house. The crowning feature, the belvedere, commands an inspiring view of the ocean. The Mansion was donated in 1951 by Miss Sarah Spencer to become the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.

bcmushrooms.forrex.org/ntfp/index.html 22/03/2017 The wild mushroom harvest in the province of British Columbia, Canada, contributes millions of dollars to local economies. These mushrooms -- found in both forests and non-forest environments -- are referred to as non-timber forest products (NTFP). We have identified around 100 NTFP mushrooms that are or potentially are of economic importance to the province. For this first year (2003), we have chosen twelve major species that are harvested in the province for commercial purposes. This site brings together the scientific and technical information on the provinces NTFP mushrooms.

merchantsofgreencoffee.com 28/03/2018 Merchants of Green Coffee. Like our early seafaring predecessors, we are voyagers; seeking to establish an ideal supply channel for trading coffee. Using our modern telescopes, we’ve been observing and learning from past and present practices in order to improve the overall standards of trading coffee today. Out of respect, we set our standards high; and by doing so, we aim to set a precedent for truly great coffee. What exactly defines a coffee as “truly great”? 1. Quality Green Beans. 2. Freshness of the Roast. 3. Proper Brewing.

Arpie wears a wise, at time predatory heart on his face and has many varied literary associations. The Greek goddess of wisdom, Athena, made the owl her special symbol. Shakespeare characterized the tawny owl's song happily in Love's Labour's Lost -- "Then nightly sings the staring owl, Tu-whit; Tu-who, a merry note." D.B. Wyndham and Charles Lee titled their immortal anthology of good bad verse The Stuffed Owl (1952), although its hearing being ten times better than ours, the tawny owl may be said to have a good ear for song.

Eider down, the soft feathers used by the female to line her nest is one of the best insulating materials known and is harvested for sleeping bags and quilts. It can be collected without harming either the birds or their eggs, making it a valuable renewable resource. The common eider is a large sea duck, measuring up to 68 cm, with striking plumage. This is the only duck in Canada that is white on top and black underneath. Its back, neck and breast are white, while its belly, tail and secondary feathers are black, as is the cap on its head. Its bill is long and yellow and it has a pale, greenish patch on the back of its head. This striking colouration is only found in adult male eiders; females are a uniformly barred dull brown, while immature males display various combinations of brown and white.

www.aquatic.uoguelph.ca/birds/speciesacc/Arctic/Arc_Birds/Anatidae/S_spectabilis.htm 21/08/2017 King Eider. Somateria spectabilis. According to an old legend, a king eider is simply a common eider whose age and experience have earned it the right to wear a “crown”. The male king eider is a strikingly beautiful bird, with a mostly black back and wings, white breast and throat, light grey head and pale emerald green cheeks. Its bill is deep orange, with a large knoblike extension at the base. Female king eiders are uniformly chestnut brown with darker bars, and are distinguishable from other female eiders only by the shape of their bills, which have a comparatively short base. The plumage of immature males is a mixture of brown and white which changes as they develop. Eiders remain the same colour year-round, with no difference between their winter and breeding plumages. King eiders are smaller than common eiders, reaching a maximum of 60 cm in length.

www.athabascau.ca 12/03/2018 Athabasca University was established by Order in Council of the Government of Alberta on June 25, 1970. Originally conceived as a traditional campus-based institution, AU changed course in 1972 through a pilot project to test the concept of an open, distance university. The first AU course, World Ecology, was offered in 1973, and AU's first Convocation, for two graduates, was held in 1977. The university achieved self-governing status as Alberta's fourth public university on April 12, 1978. By 1984, AU had outgrown its original facilities in Edmonton and, in accordance with the policy of decentralization favoured by the provincial government of the day, the university moved 145 kilometres north to the Town of Athabasca.

The reputation of Bertrand Russell (1872–1970), the third Earl Russell, as one of the greatest thinkers of the twentieth century has only increased with time. In a massive and seminal series of publications in the early years of the last century Russell transformed logic and placed it at the centre of philosophic inquiry. The impact of these, and later works in which he confronted other fundamental problems of philosophy, has been profound, even on scholars who have disputed his conclusions. In a parallel intellectual life as social critic, political thinker and humanist, meanwhile, Russell addressed many issues of vital import to the history of the twentieth century: nationalism and imperialism, modern industrialism, Soviet Communism, and the nuclear peril, to name but a few.

He wasn’t a map expert—he didn’t even own a GPS receiver until 2008—but liked them all the same, and thought blogging about them would be a good way to learn more. Now, more than a decade later, people insist on calling him a map expert, to his continuing befuddlement. Jonathan Crowe blogs about maps at The Map Room and reviews Canadian science fiction for AE: The Canadian Science Fiction Review. His essays have appeared in The New York Review of Science Fiction and the Ottawa Citizen. His sf fanzine, Ecdysis, was a two-time finalist for the Aurora Award.

www.mun.ca/alciato 20/11/2017 Andrea Alciato's Emblematum liber or Book of Emblems had enormous influence and popularity in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is a collection of 212 Latin emblem poems, each consisting of a motto (a proverb or other short enigmatic expression), a picture, and an epigrammatic text. Alciato's book was first published in 1531, and was expanded in various editions during the author's lifetime. It began a craze for emblem poetry that lasted for several centuries. We use the Latin text and images from an important edition of 1621 and we give a translation into English.

www.p3canada.ca 02/01/2017 P3s. Public infrastructure impacts the lives of every Canadian – from the water they drink to the roads they drive – and the quality and reliability of our public assets play a substantial role in determining our overall quality of life. With this in mind, governments are continuously challenged to develop public assets that meet taxpayers’ expectations of quality, and also promise to stand the test of time. Public–private partnerships (P3s) are a long-term, performance-based approach to procuring public infrastructure that can enhance governments’ ability to hold the private sector accountable for public assets over their expected lifespan.

www.tednasmith.com 18/05/2018 Ted Nasmith. I was born in Goderich, Ontario, Canada in the mid nineteen-fifties. My father was an electronics technician in the Royal Canadian Air Force (as then known), stationed in nearby Clinton. My first memories, though, are from a three year stay in France, in the town Longuyon near Marveille, on the German border, where our family lived while my father was stationed there. As a young child, the memories of those times made a strong impression on me as we traveled about the nearby countries during holidays.
